I first came to the Killeen House Hotel in 1997, and Michael and
Geraldine Rosney welcomed me in and made me feel as at home as anywhere
I have ever stayed. I've been back twice since then, and would insist
that anyone traveling to Killarney treat themselves to a stay at the
Killeen House Hotel(and actually have insisted on several occasions).
The
food at Rozzer's (the Killeen House Hotel restaurant) is unsurpassed.
In fact, it is on par with any of the finest restaurants in my home
town of San Francisco.
The staff is always warm, accommodating
and friendly, making sure any special needs of the weary traveler or
golfer are met. You will know most of them by name by the time you
check-out (a very sad occasion).
The heart of the hotel is the
pub, where you will find thousands of golf balls covering the walls,
all of them with a different logo. The craic in this room filters
throughout the lobby and is absolutely infectious. But fear not for a
good night's sleep, as you can hear a pin drop in the residence areas
of the hotel.
In short, you will be very hard-pressed to find a
better place to stay anywhere in Ireland than the Killeen House Hotel.
It was such a special place to me and my family that my late father's
picture hangs in the pub. That is the sort of relationship that the
proprietors are able to forge with their guests and is the reason why
most of their business is from return customers who invariably become
returning friends. YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!
