Press Release : Major honour for Killeen House Hotel, Killarney
|
described as "impossibly friendly" and voted the fourth best hotel for service in the world
At a time of much negative news in the hospitality sector the Killeen House Hotel in
Killarney, Co Kerry
has reversed the trend and been named fourth best hotel in the
world for
service in the influential 2010 Travellers’ Choice Trip Advisor
survey. The
specialist travel website, driven by public opinion, confirmed the
success for
the popular three-star hotel based on the comments of over 25 million
hotel
reviews by guests, posted in its website.
The
23-bedroom
operation, is owned and run by husband-and-wife team Michael and
Geraldine
Rosney, who said they have been inundated with congratulatory emails
and text
messages from guests throughout the world who had previously stayed in
the
hotel. “We are absolutely delighted with the award and we thank all our guests for supporting us in such a magnificent manner. We look forward to welcoming many of them back and celebrating with them,” said Michael Rosney. He went on to say “Our main marketing tool is the happy smile on guests’ faces – even after they’ve paid their bill!”
Killeen
House
Hotel has won a number of major industry awards in the last few years,
including the Trip Advisor Top Ten Hidden Gems
of the World in
both 2006 and 2008, the Hotel
and Catering Review Gold
Medal in 2009, as well as the recently inaugurated Failte Ireland Award
for Best Customer Service in Ireland. Since Michael and
Geraldine Rosney bought the hotel in 1992,
they have built up a loyal customer base and the hotel’s multi
award-winning Rozzers
Restaurant is also a huge hit with locals and tourists alike. Geraldine
Rosney, who is the current National President of Skal, the tourism and
travel association, said: “Among the Killeen House Hotel features that consistently generate positive reviews are the fact that we will serve guests a full table d’hote dinner at midnight, or a full Irish breakfast at 5am, if that’s what they want.”
As
quirky as it is
welcoming, the Killeen House boasts the only bar in the world that
accepts golf
balls as legal tender and it is a hugely popular hotel of choice for
golfers –
both amateur and professional – from all parts of the world. Michael
explained:
“If a guest presents me with
a new ball for my 8,500-strong golf ball wall collection in our pub, I
give them a free
pint of Guinness or a gin and tonic,” Informal but adhering to the highest professional skills, all the staff of the Killeen House address all guests on a first-name basis and the Rosneys are determined to treat everyone as if they were guests in their own home. Michael stressed:
“We’ve been winning this and
other awards because of the quality, professionalism and most of all,
the deeply caring attitude and naturally friendliness of our staff. We
offer a personalised and flexible level of service to our guests that
large, structured hotels simply cannot provide and we will celebrate
this latest Award with our
staff in a few weeks’ time – just before the hotel re-opens in April
for
the 2010 season.”
